After months of designing, testing, illustrating, rewriting rules, reorganising cards, changing our minds, changing them again, and debating mechanics far more seriously than anyone probably should, we’re incredibly excited to say:
Chaotic Octopus is heading to UK Games Expo.
For anyone unfamiliar, UK Games Expo is one of the biggest tabletop gaming events in the UK, bringing together thousands of players, publishers, designers, artists, creators, and game lovers for a giant celebration of all things tabletop gaming.
Why This Matters So Much to Us
A huge part of Chaotic Octopus has always been about bringing people together through physical play, storytelling, creativity, and shared experiences.
There is something special about watching strangers sit around a table and, within minutes, start laughing, competing, negotiating alliances, accusing each other of betrayal, and becoming emotionally invested in cardboard rectangles.
That kind of connection feels rare and important.
Attending UK Games Expo feels like a major milestone for us, not just because we get to showcase our games, but because we get to become part of a community we genuinely admire.
We’ll Be Bringing Our Games Along
We’re hoping to spend the expo:
- playtesting
- meeting players
- speaking with publishers
- learning from other creators
- handing out business cards
- and surviving almost entirely on caffeine
Most importantly, we’ll be bringing prototypes of:
Silly Suits
A chaotic family card game filled with ridiculous animals, strategic combos, sabotage, and plenty of table drama.
In Greed We Trust
A fast-paced improv party game where players pitch bizarre inventions to solve increasingly ridiculous opportunities while attempting to impress a rotating investor.
The combinations players create during testing have already become gloriously unhinged. Corporate nonsense, terrible inventions, overconfident pitches, and complete chaos are all part of the experience.
We’re Excited to Meet Other Indie Creators
One of the most inspiring parts of the tabletop industry is how many independent creators are building wildly imaginative things.
Games made in bedrooms.
Games made at kitchen tables.
Games built from scribbled notebooks, late-night ideas, playtest disasters, and tiny sparks of inspiration that slowly grew into something real.
There is something deeply personal about tabletop creation. Every game reflects the people who made it.
We’re especially excited to:
- meet fellow indie developers
- learn more about publishing
- discover upcoming games
- exchange ideas
- and absorb as much knowledge as possible over the weekend
Why Physical Games Matter to Us
Part of the reason we started creating games in the first place was because we genuinely believe physical play matters.
Not just for kids. For everyone.
Games encourage:
- creativity
- communication
- imagination
- problem solving
- confidence
- storytelling
- human connection
In a world increasingly built around scrolling, notifications, and isolated entertainment, there is something refreshing about gathering around a table and simply playing together.
No loading screens.
No updates.
No WiFi required.
Just people, ideas, and a little chaos.
Come Say Hello!
If you happen to spot us wandering around UK Games Expo carrying prototypes, octopus branding, and the slightly sleep-deprived expression of indie creators running on adrenaline, come and say hello.
We’d love to:
- meet people
- hear feedback
- chat about games
- exchange recommendations
- and share what we’ve been building
This still feels like the beginning of the journey for us, which makes the whole experience even more exciting.
See you there! 🐙
